Tom Van Buskirk is the Brandywine Deanery representative from St. Joseph on the Brandywine. Originally from New York, Tom and his wife, Robbie, moved to the area in 2020. They have two adult sons, two daughters-in-law, and three grandsons. Tom earned his MBA from the Baruch College Zicklin School of Business in New York City.
Tom has a rich history of volunteer service within his parishes and communities. He has served as a lector, a Eucharistic Minister for Masses and the homebound, and has been actively involved in Evangelization Programs. At St. Gregory the Great in Bellerose, NY, he was President of the Parish Council and a member of the Parish Advisory Committee. He also played a foundational role as the First Board Chair of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Academy in Bellerose.
In addition, Tom has held leadership positions beyond the parish. He served as Chair of the Board of Governors at Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY, and continues to serve as Chair of the Board of Directors at St. Thomas The Apostle in Woodhaven, NY.
Tom's dedication to his community also extended to civic service, where he was a trustee in his hometown and later served as Mayor, a volunteer position, for 11 years.
At St. Joseph on the Brandywine, Tom continues his service as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at HarborChase Senior Living in Wilmington.
