Very Reverend Michael J. Carrier, KHS, V.F. is a native of Lewiston, Maine. He received his undergraduate degree in Religious Studies from Seton Hall University in 1989.
Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he served in the Archdiocese of Newark (NJ) as a Youth Minister. Fr. Carrier completed his theological studies being awarded an MDiv and STB from St. Mary’s Seminary & University in 1995.
Ordained on October 28, 1995 (in the absence of a diocesan bishop) by the Most Reverend John Glynn, D.D. of the Archdiocese of Military Services.
Fr. Carrier’s priestly assignments have been:
Associate Pastor – Immaculate Conception / St. Jude’s Mission – Elkton
Associate Pastor – Holy Family, Newark
Rector – Cathedral of St. Peter (2001-2005)
Pastor – Christ Our King (2006-2009)
Pastor – Church of the Holy Child (2009-present)
Fr. Carrier has served the diocese as Director of Worship, a member of the Priest Personnel Committee, a member of the Priest Council, Chaplain to the Office of for Youth Ministry/CYO, and as Director of Spiritual Formation for the Office of Deacons. In addition, he currently serves as chaplain to the Catholic Girls Scouts, co-chaplain for Legatus Wilmington Chapter, and is a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. Fr. Carrier was appointed as Dean of the Brandywine Hundred Deanery in March of 2024.
